HUBBARD Alfred "Meatball" Carfangia, 79 of Hubbard, died Sunday afternoon, April 27, 2003, at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born September 25, 1923, in Youngstown, a son of Phillip and Angeline Carfagna Carfangia and lived most of his life in Hubbard.
Mr. Carfangia worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Patrick Church, the Cursillo Movement, St. Vincent DePaul Society and a life member of the American Legion Post 51 of Hubbard. He was a Sergeant in the Army in World War II and enjoyed fishing and cooking and was a graduate of East High School.
His wife, the former Mary K., DiTommaso, whom he married May 10, 1947, died October 3, 2000. He leaves three sons, Fred S. (Patty) Carfangia, Phillip A. Carfangia and Roger (Julie L.) Carfangia, all of Hubbard; a daughter, SueAnn (Robert) McCulley of Hubbard; two brothers, Anthony Carfangia of California and Carl Carfangia of Campbell; a sister, Virginia Such of Maryland; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
An infant brother, four sisters, Delena Mangee, Anne Fetch, Jenny Haines and Doris Magazine and his parents preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, 9:15 AM at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home and at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Church.
