Obituary


HUBBARD Funeral services will be held Saturday, 1:00 PM at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home and at 1:30 PM at St. Patrick Church, Hubbard for Alex P. Wolanski, 80 of 310 Princeton Ave. who died Thursday morning at Northside Medical Center. He was born August 30, 1920, in New Castle, PA, a son of John and Anna Sniezak Wolanski and lived in Hubbard for 53 years.

Mr. Wolanski worked for Westinghouse Electric Corp. for 35 years retiring in 1982 as a supervisor. He was a member of St. Patrick Church, the Knights of Columbus, Hubbard Council 2072 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3767 of Hubbard. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening and working crossword puzzles. He served with the Navy in World War II attaining the rank of Lieutenant JG and participated in the Normandy Invasion.

He leaves his wife, the former Elizabeth (Betty) Karolewski, whom he married March 4, 1945; three daughters, Karen Pomponio of Hubbard, Phyllis Gancarcik of Tulsa, OK and Patricia Wolanski Struble of Plano, TX; two brothers, Kashmir and Mike Wolanski, both of Sharon, PA; a sister, Helen Bender of Hermitage, PA; two grandsons. Two brothers, Walter and Max Wolanski and a sister, Sophie Smith are deceased.

Friends may call at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home Friday, 5 to 8 PM.

Contributions can be made to the World War II Veterans Memorial Fund, the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Burial will be in Hubbard Union Cemetery.
