LIBERTY Albert William "Bill" Mercer, 81, of Liberty Township, died Saturday, January 26, 2008, at Liberty Health Care Center. He was born February 13, 1926, in Lowellville, OH, a son of William F. and Virginia May Stewart Mercer and was a life long area resident.

Mr. Mercer worked for U.S. Steel Corp. for 26 years retiring in 1980. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Evangelical Church and attended Bethel Friends Church in Poland. Bill graduated from Youngstown College in 1952 and served with the Navy in World War II.

His wife, the former Frances J. McMillan, whom he married September 12, 1953, died February 2, 1994. He leaves a son, Dr. Stephen D. (Diane) Mercer of Convoy, OH; a daughter, Cindy L. (Robert) Capp of Youngstown; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home, Hubbard.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 5 to 8 pm and on Tuesday from 10 to 11 am prior to the service.
